\
A: The Release 1 and 2 NetInfo databases are functionally completely compatible. You may mix 1.0 and 2.0 NetInfo servers as you wish. However, there is a difference between Release 1 and 2 NetInfo databases. Release 1 NetInfo data files are upwardly compatible to Release 2, but not the other way around. In other words, you can move a NetInfo database from a Release 1 to a Release 2 system, but not in the other direction.\
\
The same applies for Release 2 and 3 databases. There are differences between the two databases, but Release 3 NetInfo can still recognize and modify Release 2 databases. Release 2 databases are not compatible with some Release 3 features, such as exports, printers, faxes, and sendmail configurations, just to name a few. Please see the Release Notes for specifics.\
